Experience

August 1996 - Present. Director Intranet and Manufacturing Solutions, Cap Gemini America. Working as an architect of IT solutions in the Intranet and Electronic Documentation areas. Also completed "Building Intranets" and "Audio and Video on the Internet" for the Computer Channel. These 60 minute videos is available from the Computer Channel.

June 1995 - August 1996 . Consultant to Automatic Transmission at Ford Motor Company. Developer work-flow pilot plan for simultaneous engineering and recommended vendors for software and consulting. Developed a strategic plan for Computing for ATEO and PowerTrain. Developed a 20 year plan for ATEO market expansion and product development. Assisted with the development of a new machine tool controls strategy and awarding of several research grants. Worked on the implementation plan for the Ford Intranet and for next generation computing platforms.

July 1996 - Developed a relational database system to handle advertising, sales and delivery for the Monday Morning News Company.

November 1994 - Present. Developer of Co-op Master, a reuseable software database for tracking co-op adverting. Currently in use at Champion Products, Hanes, Bali, Phillips Lighting Products, and Kitchen Aid. Under consideration by Harmon-Kardan,Heinz, and Hershey .

June 1994. Completed "LateNight with MacHack" for MIS Press.

January 1994 - May 1995 Consultant to Ford Motor Company on the use of CD-ROM and computers. Developed the "Grapevine" fax system, worked on the Ford 2000 network, participated in the development of the Ford 2000 Operating Guide. Developed a plan for evaluating and purchasing new computer hardware and software. Built 5 PR related CD-ROM titles. Developed a computer strategy for FCN.

July 1990 - Present . Marketing and Product design consultant for various companies in the industry. Including Fifth Generation Systems, E-Machines, Microsoft, Apple Computer, NEC Computer Products, Sun Microsystems, and Fusion Data Systems.

August 1990 - January 1994. Senior Editor of NautilusCD Magazine. Worked on the development of over 100 monthly issues. Built a permission tracking database for shareware. Wrote over 300 articles for the magazine. Set-up an Internet archive site and BBS system. Developed and installed the corporate system for telecommuting; then worked successfully in a telecommuting job. Developed skills with multi-media presentations and Virtual-Reality applications. Successfully troubleshot the 3 new high-speed CD-ROM pressing and packing lines.

June 1990 - January 1993 Director of MicroComputer Applications, Domino's Pizza Distribution. Developed an Executive Information System and implemented it world-wide with a cost reduction of over 70% per unit of traffic. Developed 11 custom databases and programs. Developed a WAN and LAN system to tie the whole company together across North and South America, Europe and Asia.

December 1987 - July 1990. Product Planner/ Product Planning Manager, Irwin Magnetics. Developed plans and specifications for new products, both hardware and software. Developed plans to move Irwin from supporting the DOS market only to supporting 4 different versions of Unix, Macintosh, MS-DOS, Windows, and OS/2. Managed the software interface to the hardware for all operating systems using a modular approach.

February 1987- December 1987 . Vice President, Small Systems Guild. Contract consulting services in the areas of microcomputer system design, documentation and training materials design. Redesigned and updated the Macintosh Programmer Training materials for Apple's Macintosh 101 training course. Developed a course to teach ACIUS's 4th Dimension database to developers.

July 1986- December 1987. Manager of microcomputer technical support departments for The Learning Center, Ltd in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

June 1985 - July 1986. Full-time student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

December 1983 - June 1985. Program manager (OPNAV-983) for the U.S. Navy's Test and Evaluation support bases, which include Pacific Missile Test Center and Naval Weapons Center, China Lake. Handled a 770 million dollar budget with 22,000 personnel. Successfully implemented a 12 percent reduction in expenditures with out reducing testing or personnel. Developed criteria to determine if a research project was progressing successfully and implemented the review program. Program Manager aerial targets. Navy Program Coordinator for secure voice and test data communications. Managed a section of 22 programmers (civilian and military) to develop software and local area networks for the Navy.

September 1979 - December 1983. Combat and engineering officer aboard US Navy ships. During this period qualified as Officer of the Deck, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Surface Warfare Officer, Navigator, and Battle Group Repair Officer. Wrote, directed, and narrated a series of 64 half-hour video tapes on Damage Control in naval vessels, that are still in use.

June 1979 - August 1980. Officer in Charge of the centrifugal pump repair FMS at Bremerton Washington Naval Shipyard. Oversaw installation and debug, start-up and software re-write. Developed several action plans to bring the system on line. Integrated equipment from 11 different manufacturers. Took over as head integrator when the integration company went bankrupt. Completed the integration in 8 weeks after taking over achieving full capacity and functionality.

Skills

Technical: Extensive experience with the Apple Macintosh, Microsoft Windows95, CD-ROMs, Data Telecommunications, Simulation and game design, GUI design and LANs. Programming experience with Fortran, 4D, FileMaker Pro, FoxPro, and HTML. CAD, Web Design, and 3-D Modeling experience. Experience with machine tool/ software interface. Some familiarity with Novell Netware, Windows 3.x, Unix, Pascal, Modula-2, Internet Servers, and C/C++.

Managerial: Extensive experience managing projects with teams of from 2 to 25 people. Budgeting and time and materials estimating experience in software and hardware design in projects with budgets from 10k to 1 million dollars. Understanding of overhead and contracting considerations.

Other: Nationally recognized as an expert on Macintosh, CD-ROM, and LAN issues. Many contacts in the press and the computer industry. Experience in developing and executing marketing plans. Speaker at over 100 computer related events, including international conventions.
